My Studio Setup

I have worked with voiceover specific recording engineers to plan and tune my recording space. I record in an acoustically treated space using professional level equipment including:

  • Rode NTG-5 microphone or CAD E100Sx microphone (depending on which is best for your project)
  • Solid State Logic SSL2 digital interface
  • Twisted Wave and Reaper digital audio workstations
  • Mogami cabling
  • Gigabit-speed fiber optic service with hardwired ethernet connection for a solid, reliable connection
  • SourceConnect 4, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom available for directed sessions

Standard Policies

Revisions/Retakes

Retakes (my mistakes) are included at no cost.

Revisions (changes made to the script after recording):

  • Minor Revisions (one or two words): one round included
  • Major Revisions (more than 20% of the script): 50% of cost
  • Complete re-read: 75% of original cost

Performance Retakes (undirected sessions):

When I am recording the files in my studio at my own direction and sending them to you (sometimes called an undirected session or self-service session), I always include one round of Performance Retakes at no cost. If you need me to re-do lines for performance reasons, please try to communicate any and all direction and/or change of direction at this time including pronunciations like “root” vs. “rout” or “INsurance” vs. “inSUREance.”

After the first round of retakes, subsequent rounds are charged as Revisions, above.

When sending a change request, please highlight the lines in the original script or list the full sentence to be re-recorded, the sentence before, and the sentence after so I know what I’m talking about. If applicable, please include the time index of the video so I can better match tone and pace.

Please submit all change requests within 30 days of receiving the original recording. After 30 days, any and all change requests will be charged the original rates.

Rates

I am professionally trained voice actor and use the Global Voice Acting Academy (GVAA) Rate Guide as a starting point for most quotes. There are number of factors that influence the rate for a voiceover including:

  • What type of project is it? (such Medical? Corporate? Audiobook?)
  • Where will it be used? (Social media ads, YouTube, TV, internal, etc.)
  • What’s the length of the script? (in words or minutes)
  • Other factors – the more I know about your project, the better quote I can provide.

I also recognize that non-profits and others may have budget contraints, so I work to provide a custom quote that we both can be happy with. Bulk work and long-term commitments usually allow for good discounts over the initial GVAA rate.

New & International Clients (OUTSIDE THE U.S.)

New domestic (US) and all international clients are billed upfront unless otherwise agreed upon. Payment is due before delivery of the files.

AI/Synthetic Voices Policies

As a member of the National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA), I will ask you to include the NAVA AI Rider with any contract.

Basically, if we are in a voiceover services agreement, you, as my client, expressly agree not to utilize any portion of my recording or performance for purposes other than those specified in our initial Agreement, including but not limited to creation of synthetic voices or for machine learning.

Specifically, you shall not utilize any recording or performance of me (the Talent) to simulate my voice or likeness, or to create any synthesized or “digital double” or my voice or likeness.

You also specifically agree not to sell or transfer ownership of all or part of any of my recordings or performance to any third party without my knowledge and consent.

You agree not to enter into any agreements or contracts on my behalf which utilizes all or any part of any of my recordings or performance without my knowledge and consent.

You agree that any recordings or performances stored in digital format will be reasonably stored (in the cloud, locally, or other storage option) so that unauthorized third parties may not gain access to the files containing my voice or likeness by providing safeguards through encryption, access controls, and/or other current technological means.

Data Privacy Policies
